Why having extreme water retention?

doctors dont know why my mother keeps gaining water, all tests have come back negative, she gets worse every day - she's not losing water just keeps gaining

Hi sorry to hear of your troubles. As you have posted in the liver cirrhosis does your mom have liver cirrhosis?

Is she retaining fluid in her abdomen? Does she have a very swollen stomach so much that she looks like she is pregnant? Does she have lower leg swelling (called edema)? Have the doctors prescribed any diuretic medicines?

Is you mom limiting her sodium intake? That would mean no use of table salt and avoiding foods with lots of sodium can help.
