bile acids under detection limit

does anybody know what it means when bile acids are under the detection limit in bloodserum?
i still have my gallbladder and usually the bile acids were in the norm, just on my last labs it was under the lower limit of detecion of 2 umol/l
does this mean one is having advanced liver damage or could this have other non liver related causes.
apreciate any opinion

Hello and hope you are doing well.

Normal bile acid levels are 0.3 - 4.8 umol/L. Bile Acids are typically low in the fasted state, whilst levels will rise immediately after a meal. So, recheck your values.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
