kratom and abdomnial pain

I took an herb called kratom for back pain and started feeling abdominal pain in my right side and yellowing eyes. After that I quit taking it and did research and found that it has given a few people liver problems like intrahepatic cholestasis. I got a blood test last month and it showed my bilirubin was high and my alkaline phosphatase was low. They sent me to a specialist who did an ultrasound and found nothing and wanted to do more test when I got my insurance. That was about 3 weeks ago and I am still feeling pain in my right side. Has anyone had any kind of experience like this?

Yes this can cause liver and kidney issues when taking high doses everyday. It is reversible studies have been done on this exact issue. If you continue it will cause liver and kidney damage. You should stop taking and change diet to a healthy diet.. i went through the same thing.

Kratom can effect the liver. Try some milk thistle. The supplement is for liver help.

I have insurance now and went to the doc today. He found high levels of urobilinogen in my urine sample and I'm waiting on my blood test to come in Monday. I quit taking kratom around May 1st. I'm just hoping I didn't do any irreversible damage...

Always be careful when taking herbs.  These are not regulated by the FDA and you don't always know what your taking.  I'm sorry that you find yourself in this situation but hope with some time they will be out of your system.

There is always a risk to taking any unregulated drug. Maybe there was some liver damage done to your liver by this drug? Hopefully it is only temporary. I would continue to follow up with your doctor to further assess any liver or other damage that may have occurred.

Best of luck to you.
