life expectancy with cirrhosis

My ex husband is 41 y/o and had been a heavy drinker for 20 years he was diagnosed with Cirrhosis a little  over a year ago he stopped drinking when diagnosed but has had issues with ascites , leg swelling , easy  bruising , jaundice at times , fatigue , and a very large inguinal hernia, is on a 2 gram sodium diet and 1200 ml fluid restriction , and has lost alot of weight and muscle mass , very forgetful and has developed a pretty nasty personality he is still currently working bit it is very hard for him what do you think his life expectancy will be .

Since he has quit drinking he can improve. It may take some time but with healthy living he can have a normal lifespan. Good luck

There is really no way to know. With care he can live a full life his doctor would have the best answer on this. I was diagnosed with cirrhosis January 2008 but mine was caused by chronic hep c infection for 30 years at that point. I was cured of hep c in 2015.

Has he been evaluated for hepatic encephalopathy? That could be part of his memory and personality issues.

I’m assuming he is taking a diuretic to help with the edema. Has he had any upper endoscopies to check for esophageal varices? Hopefully he is under the care of a hepatologist associated with a liver transplant center they are best skilled to follow a patient with advanced liver disease
