Has anyone else heard of Flu WITHOUT high fever this year?

My son and I have been sick for a week and a half with every symptom of Flu, but our body temps never got above 100.5 to 101 degrees. I have never heard of Flu without fevers more like 102 degrees and up.

We were both vaccinated early in the season, but we've heard from family members that the Flu vaccination isn't working very well this year. Our symptoms started with severe nausea for a few days, followed by sore throats for several days, then finally congestion and dry coughs. Our fevers ended when the congestion started, but the nausea returned for the last couple of days, just not as severe as at the beginning. We are nearly over the bug now, but it's really dragging on.

Because of the severe sore throat my son had and his history of frequent tonsillitis, I took him to a nearby clinic. The physician assistant said it wasn't tonsillitis, but was definitely a virus, unspecified in nature. He even thought it may be a flu variant. Has anyone else had a virus like this during this season?

Also, does anyone have suggestions for easy to prepare meals that are gentle on nauseous stomachs? Having been sick so long, I can't remember very well, except for the BRAT diet! Thanks for any advice!
