Why do i keep coughing?

I'm a 16 yr old girl and I've had this cough for over a month. Its very mucus-y and hoarse. Sometimes i cough so hard for so long i throw up green mucus. When i tilt my head back the cough gets worse. Also i cough so hard i cant breathe for a few seconds and then im fine. In the beginning, i had a normal cold. But then all the cold symptoms (headache, earache, stuffy nose) went away and the cough never did. About a week ago, all the cold symptoms came back, and lately i've been waking up with my right eye crusted shut. I've gone to the doctor twice and the first time they told me it was allergies, the second time they told me it was asthma. So i went to a pulmonary doctor and i dont have ashtma or allergies. They told me to take an acid reflux medication amd breathing exercises for vocal dysfunction. But its been about a week and the cough has not gotten any better. Does anyone have any idea of this might be and how to get rid of it? P.S. Im sorry this is so long

Hi,

Sorry to hear you are unwell.
How things come to mind.
First, if you are taking anti reflux medication make sure you take it on an empty stomach 30 mins before food. I was recently oin such meds and they never worked until I found out the doctor gave me the wrong instructions. It MUST be taken on an empty stomach and before meals. Otherwise you're just wasting time and money.

Second, have you been tested for whooping cough?

Keep away from anyone who says you need breathing or vaca, exercises. You are coughing up phlegm. You need a diagnosis and correct treatment. You don't need " breathing exercises".

Good luck.
