cough when take a deep breath, last for two months already

i am 23, male.

i don't even know what kind of problems i have, i started coughing about 5 weeks ago, cough not so bad during the day time but at night especially when i lay on the bed, i cough so bad, and sometimes cant even breath. i went to see my doctor so many times, took med for both cough and allergy, but still cant stop coughing. when the first time i took the allegra D, i felt better for 10 hours, then 8 hours and after few days, it doesnt work on me anymore. i dont know if i got allergy or what, i came to US about 5 years ago, i never been like this except this year after summer. i did not do anything unusual or been to any other places. i cough so terrible and i feel pain on my chest and throat.

now its 4:40am, i couldn't fall asleep because i cant stop coughing when i lay on my bed for 5 minz, so i looked for help on internet and found this site.

i got my blood checked 3 times recently at different places, all look fine except the numbers are a little bit higher on my liver and iron in my body. i don't drink but smoke, and i quit about 2-3 weeks ago.

every time when i take a deep breath i cough, right now i can only be able to fall asleep when i get really tired, like at 5-6am, so i can take a rest for 5-6 hours. one more month like this.

i was kinda professional athlete (swimming) before, i started swimming training when i was 5. since i came here (18), i stopped swimming, just worked out and played basketball when i had time. but this year, i stopped playing any sport, because i am going to graduate and so much work to do. is it because i stopped doing any sport so i get sick easy? i tried many med for both cough and allergy, but still cant even get a good sleep. i don't know how i can go to school like this...

i feel terrible and really hope some1 here can help me and tell me what i can do. thank you so much,

please let me know if anything, my email: jack_frog***@****

Go see an allergist.  They can desensitize you by giving you regular allergy shots (desensitization).  Antihistamines are helpful.  The cheapest non-sedating loratadine (generic claritin) is at costco, called allerclear.

A blood test isn't great at properly diagnosing allergies (RAST test).  Get skin testing at an allergist.

If allegra initially helped, this may be allergic.  Ask your doc for a different remedy, or for a referral to an allergist to get shots.
