I have posted this before but received no replies so trying again :) replies much appreciated

I've had a cough for 12 weeks. It started off worse at night and I was waking up hot and sweaty,as well as bringing up yellow muscus. I was prescribed a 7 day course of antibiotics and given a chest x-ray as my doctor said one of my lungs sounded dull. The x-ray didn't show anything unusual. The cough got a little better but still lingered for a few weeks, though I was no longer bringing anything up. It got worse (I wasn't going 10 minutes without coughing) and I started bringing stuff up again so went back to my doctor who prescribed me a 10 day course of ciprofluxin (spelling may be incorrect), he asked me to come back in 3 days. I went back and he said the antibiotics should have had more of an effect and prescribed me a brown inhaler. It had got a lot better but is still here. Have had the inhaler just over two weeks, don't know whether to go back to the doctor. I am now getting a raspy/rattly noise in my chest occasionally, I also cough every time I use the inhaler.

Well maybe a second opinion would be a good idea, and ask to see a consultant<<<< not being a doctor myself, but this is what I would be doing  B

Nope not a smoker. Hmmm it seems a lot of people have this coughing problem. I'm at the point now where unless it gets worse I'll just bring it up to the doctor if I go in for another reason. Good luck to you too :)

do you smoke ??? i have had a cough now for 10 months, ive got 3 inhalers and am still coughing, ive been diagnosed with copd and i cough when i use my inhalers as they open up the lungs and this tends to make you cough rapidly and helps to bring up the phelgrem. Go back to doctors and get more tests done. Could you be allergic to something in the house, all these things need to be checked, it will be a long process but hopefully your doctor will do more tests and sort this out for you, good luck.
