yes advil is very good to take in the flu.
You've had it only for 5 days... some people are sick for years.
If you won't get your energy back within a month, you should go see a doctor, run blood tests maybe. but you know for something like this don't expect the Doctor to know immediately where the problem is! you need to be patient. that is actually why patients are called patients.
If you have the flu, or if you have a bad cold, there is not much a doctor can do. These illnesses are caused by viruses and antibiotics have no effect on them. The best thing to do is drink a lot of liquids, stay in bed, and sleep well. If you are in generally good health you will soon recover.
Anyone? My fever has gone but now I just feel fatigued with a sore throat + dry cough.
Alright today's the fourth day, my fever is basically gone as-well as the bad headache and other symptoms. My only symptoms now are a sore throat that's getting better but my cough is still persistent. I coughed up a bit of green phlegm in the morning but my parents said not to worry unless I start feeling worse and get a fever.
How long do the fevers usually last? Mine is fading away since 2 days ago. When it started the first day it roamed around 101-102. Today it was around 98.6-99.4.
mhm I have no idea, never tried it before! give it a try it won't harm you :)
Will do, thank you for all the help.
By the way, my parents also bought raw ginger in which they've made tea with and gave it to me; they said it would be effective, does that help?
yes it's normal. sore throat and cough are peaking, maturing. they will regress eventually after.
for sore throat buy oral antiseptic in Pharmacy, like "Strepsils" I don't know any common product in the States. they're harmless and efficient.
for your cough, if you're brave enough, slice a piece of peeled garlic in little bits and chew them. it's important that you actually chew them slowly. at least one or two slices of garlic in a row. for (some types of) cough garlic is better than any pharmaceutical product. garlic is a natural antibiotic.
The fever is gone and so are the headaches although the sore throat and cough have gotten stronger, is this normal?
Thank you! This really does help take out that anxiety, I could barely sleep these 2 days.
Sounds good. give your body the time to fight it off.
consider that you are young and your immune system is not as strong as that of an adult. it will become stronger with years and "practice".
I wish you quick recovery!
ps
milk with honey is a lot healthier than Ibuprofen!
Yesterday is when the symptoms hit me in the morning with a sore throat, swollen lymph nods/slight neck pain, headache, and just feeling plain sick with a fever. The day before that I had a slight cough although that's it.
Now today I woke up with the same symptoms as yesterday but the sore throat is not as bad neither is the feeling of sickness along with a dry cough. My temperature has also slightly fallen.
I take advil which relives everything other than the cough.
how long have you had it for? your fever isn't very high and some of the symptoms are of sinus infection.
It can be caused by a virus, bacteria or mold.
probably you caught a virus. pretty much like a bad cold. the organism can fight it without the help of medicinal. there are no medications against viruses.
so far there are no medicinal that you need to take. drink some hot milk and honey it will help your anxiety. it is normal to be anxious because you don't have a doctor looking after you, you need to accept it or find one even privately. indecision will make your anxiety worse.
in your age it should be gone within 10 days. sometimes it can last for 3-4 weeks.
read this:
"If you have sinus pain and tenderness for more than a few days or have bloody, thick, yellow nasal discharge, call your doctor for an appointment. If you lose your balance or collapse due to sinus pain and pressure and can't get in to see your regular doctor, you should go to urgent care or the emergency room."
You could take some over the counter medicine to reduce the fever and cough. Just make sure to follow the directions carefully.
If you still have a fever after 3-4 days, you should go see a doctor. If you can't afford the visit, find a free clinic you can go to. It is probably a virus, but if it is bacterial and you need antibiotics, you don't want to wait too long.
It could be a sinus infection. I have had those exact same symptoms with a sinus infection.
