Thank You everybody for your advice,
I shall arrange for another consultation with my Doctor as soon as possible.
Antibiotics will not do anything for the flu because it is a viral infection and should only last 1 to 3 weeks. You may also have a secondary bacterial infection which is a very common occurrence or Bacterial Pneumonia. Your Doctors office is probably closed for the weekend. Do you have a walk in clinic or something similar near by? It would be wise to try another round of antibiotics. Ciprofloxicin or Azithromycin both seem to work well when others won't. You should also ask for some cough medication if you are not coughing up anything, preferably with codeine. Pleurisy and Pneumonia have similar symptoms: cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath and sharp or stabbing pain. You need to drink plenty of fluids, Rest, and keep any fever you may have under control. It's also possible that you have pulled a muscle from coughing. If this is the case then it should heal within a week or so after the coughing stops. Probably not what you want to hear but you still need medical treatment.
have a second opinion as it could well be a chest infection, cracked or bruised rib because of coughing.I always take 500mg of vitamin c or sambuca is also very good for flu and chest problems
you should go back to your doctor and ask him to refer you for a chest xray, you could have pluracey, also you might of damaged a rib with you coughing all this time.keep me posted
