Contagious/Cold and visiting Aunt with Cancer?

Hello - I woke up yesterday with a sore throat and generally feeling yucky. Today I have the beginnings of what feels like a cold coming on - sore throat, runny nose, sneezing, fatigue, and low fever.  :(  I'm scheduled to fly out in a few days to visit my aunt who has cancer and has been receiving radiation/chemo and was recently given 2-4 months to live.  I am concerned that I may be contagious and therefore may be a risk to visit her.  :(  Any advice/thoughts on this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your thoughts - I did talk with my family and was also able to see my doctor since posting my question.  My doctor is almost certain that it's allergy-related given my symptoms and the sheer number of patients he's seen in the last week with the same issues (we are having an early spring and lots of windy conditions here).  The Dr. has OK'd me and he gave me a mask to wear just to be safe. My family had suggested the mask; I wasn't sure that it was enough of a reasonable precaution, but the doctor reassured me, so I'm more comfortable now about the trip.

I was supposed to visit a loved one with cancer while he was receiving chemo/radiation and I caught a cold.  I decided to postpone my visit as because of his treatments his immune system was compromised.  It seemed like the right thing to do as he was even avoiding church because he was concerned about being exposed to so many people.  Maybe you should talk about it with your family...
