Chronic diarrhea following partial colectomy

RRG
I have a friend who is 88 years old who had a partial colectomy almost two years ago.   She has had diarrhea much of the time since her surgery followed by a course of chemotherapy and irradiation.  Her doctor states that he does not know of anything that is likely to be of benefit in controlling the diarrhea.  Is it likely that a medication like Questran or LiquiFiber would be of benefit?

Hi,
Which part of the colon was removed?

The part removed was the lower end of the colon near the rectum.  I believe sha has stated that she was told the length of the section removed was about 8 inches.

Thanks,   Ruth R Gregg
