Problems from antibiotics? will they ever go away??

Dear doctor,
7 weeks ago i took clyndamicine. The forth day i began having
severe diarrhea that continued for 3 weeks. I drank juice with active bacteria and the diarrhea stoped immediatelly. But it is 7 weeks i have abdominal cramps and alot of gas from the stomach. I have been to the doctor again. she gave me a medicine to reduce the gas, one talbet per day for one month. She said is Irritated bowel syndrome. I have never had any kind of problems with health, is it possible that this antibiotic has caused IBS? As the diarrhea stoped from the juices this means that i have no C.diff . I find really weird IBS from antibiotics? Will it ever go away? I am bloated, my tummy feels to explode after eating, and alot of pains and gases. Will it go away or this antibiotic has caused a permanent damage? I hope in your suggestions and help.

Hi,
Antibiotics do not cause IBS. They cause antibiotic assocaited colitis/ c-diff infection.
But infection can result in post- infectious IBS.
The juice you had ( probiotics) can get rid of c-diff. But c-diff recurs in about 20%.
Treatment with metronidazole for 10-14 days would be ideal.
Confirmation of c-diff should be done with stool test.
Probiotics may be continued which is beneficial for treating both IBS and c-diff infection.

I have to take Amoxin (2g) before going to the dentist.  Prior to my last visit I had my lymphocytic colitis under control.  Subsequent to the dental appointment, I suffered with diarrhea and excess gas for 17 days before getting it under control again.

Fact is most antibotics will kill the good bacteria along with their intended purpose and reactions differ depending on which antibiotic taken.  Something we sufferers will just have to endure I guess.
