Releaving pain caused by Gallstones.

I was diagnosed with gallstones last week after having an ultrasound. I was in extreme pain for about a week prior to the diagnosis. The pain has not subsided even with medication from my doctor. I am unable to sleep, eat, sit comfortably even walk. I don't go back to my doctor until next Monday. I don't know how much longer I can put up with this pain. Any suggestions to help me releave the pain (even if its only temporary)?

Thanks for the comment. I never eat fatty food and I don't drink so that isnt an issue. I went to my doctor on Monday and he informed me that I have multiple stones and I will definately need surgery to have my gallbladder removed. Now I have to wait until the 8th September to see the surgeon to find out when I go into hospital. At least now I know that something is going to be done and I will (hopefully) be pain free. Thanks again for your comment. It has helped me greatly.

Have you tried cutting out all fatty food and alcohol? As I had my gallbladder removed in 2006 as I kept having attacks but I kept all food to below 5grams of saturated fat and I never had anymore attacks until I had my gallbladder removed. Because I was only having attacks every few months I was lucky enough to have key hole surgery and now the scars are almost invisible. If you are in a lot of pain then you don't want to leave it until you are an extreme emergency case as you will have a different kind of surgery and will be left with a big scar. Be forceful with your doctor if need be, as it took me two years of telling him i didn't have wind, before I was diagnosed with gallstones! Because I was 27 and a size 12 I didn't fit into their criteria of over 40 and overweight! After having the op I have been totally fine except I have developed allergies to wheat and dairy and cannot tolerate lots of fatty food. This maybe just me, but something to bear in mind if you have you gallbladder removed. Hope this helps and you get better soon. xx

Hi,
Symptomatic gallstones disease has to be treated surgically.
Gallbladder has to be removed.
The prolonged pain indicates that probably you are developing cholecystitis ( inflammation of gallbladder).
Report to ER for treatment.
