Ulcerative colitis vs C diff

Ok.  This is a pretty complex question but here goes.  I am a new nurse who was working with patients for about four months when I became sick.  Keep in mind the hospital floor that I worked on was full of patients with cdiff.  I have never had any problems before and have no family history of IBD.
I noticed blood in my stool and saw a GI who did a stool study which came back neg for c diff, he then did a scope which showed pancolitis and upon biopsy showed crypt cell abscesses.  That day he started me on Asacol which I had no response to for months.
He also did a IBD serology 7 which he says showed that I had ulcerative colitis.
It has now been 8 months of frequent bloody/mucousy stools and no relief. I have been on Asacol, Sulfasalazine, and most recently Lialda which I had a bad reaction to.  Nothing has improved my symtoms.
I recently started seeing a new GI and she retested me and I am positive for C diff.  She also tested a ANCA-IBD P-ANCA Titer recently that came back negative.
It is my understanding that you can have a false negative c diff test, and that the IBD serology 7 does not actually distinguish between ulcerative colitis and infectious colitis.
I am on the right antibiotics now and I am on entocort.
My question though is - what are the chances that I was misdiagnosed?  Is it possible that I could have actually been dealing with a c diff infection the entire time?
I greatly appreciate your time in reviewing my question.

In retrospect, I don't like the tone of my post. Doctor Ratnakar took his/her valuable time to respond. That is really a nice thing to do. Most doctor's would not donate their time to the general public like that. I was misdiagnosed a number of times so that fueled my quick and thoughtless reply. I read some research on that site that states C-Diff does not necessarily result in diarrhea nor are some manifestations of disease necessarily caused by the toxins. One of the studies was done in India and involved people with UC. It's research, not fact but here's the link:

C-Diff can also cause IBS and IBD symptoms, according to what I've read. Sorry for firing off that post without adequate gratitude to Doctor Ratnakar. That was stupid of me.

Go here http://www.cdiffsupport.com/phpBB/  for advice.

I was diagnosed with any number of things and it was C-Diff. C-Diff can mimick lots of things and most doctors don't have the time to keep up with the research but sick patients do.

Hi,
Serological tests are not 100% specific or  sensitive.
You are having symptoms for more than 8 months now and c-diff does not last that long.
Crypt abscess is not a feature of c-diff.
Infection with C. difficile may complicate the course of patients with IBD.
What I feel you developed UC which was later complicated by c-diff infection.
And asacol is not adequate enough to control your symptoms, probably because you have severe colitis which requires steroids. And your second GI doctor has now started steroid.
