Hi,
Some of the causes of bleeding during defecation are hemorrhoids, fissures, colitis/IBD, polyps, diverticulosis and malignancy.
If blood is bright red, then the source is lower down and the cause most probably hemorrhoids or fissures.
Sigmoidoscopy may be done to find the cause.
