can heart medication cause colitis

I recently had a colonoscopy and found out I had colitis .I dont know what kind yet, but it seems like it started shortly after I started my medication. I did have some anal bleeding before that also. I found out I also had hemmoroids. The bleeding started about a year ago and I just assumed it was hemmoroids but it recently got worse over the last couple of months since I started on a new heart medication. Its been that frequent having to rush to the bathroom. So I went to a gastro. doctor.,and thats what i found out. I did read on a forum that meds caused it .Just wanted to know if that was true. I dont know too much about it yet.  donna

I am on atenolol 50 mg for svt. I have been on it since sept 22.I went back to the doctor that did the colonoscopy monday so he could discuss what was wrong. He told me That I had colitis in my lower part of my colon.I asked him also about my medication that Im on ,and if that could of caused these symptoms of colitis. He said no.I have had some anal bleeding from hemmoroids also, but it seemed to get worse after I started my medication.. I went to a website called wrong diagnosis.com and found my medication on there for possibe causes of collitis. If this is true why would the doctor say otherwise.Just to put me on medication when it wont even help. He put me on mesalamine 4gm/ml enema.and asacol hddr 800mg. Im alittle nervous about taking because of side effects. If these meds dont cure it whats the point of taking it?I dont want to be on meds my whole life.I haave a cardiologist appt. tomorrow to ask him if atenolol my be the cause.Im sure he wont know.Should i even bother going.Do you believe it may be the cause?
