ulcerative colitis/ crohns patient with severe right side pain above hip.

I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. Most recent visits to my GI, have shown her that I may also have crohns disease. The last 2+ years Suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, and an unexplained, unidentified pain on my right side of my abdomon above my hip.  I have been hospitalized multiple times for excessive pain on my right side. I have had multiple ultrasounds, multiple abdomon MRI's, no gallstones, no kidney stones, not pregnant, have had 2 full colonoscopies, and a stomach scope.  All unable to answer or explain this pain.  Dec08 went into the hospital due to sever pain in my right side, fever, vommiting, neausia constantly, unable to eat. Turned out I had a stomach infection, that spead to my pelvis.  Its a month and a half later and I have been experiancing sharp pain again in my right side.  I need help, suggestions.  I wake up sick every morning, exhausted, it seems like it would be muscular, being that it is just on/behind the "flank" or above the hip, but I can tell its not the muscle. It is sore to touch durring an episode(lasting 2- 12 hours) or durring a bad day, but not constantly.Pain is fading, and seems to slightly move.  Most comfortable position changes, because it feels as if there is something swollen, need to adjust movement to be comfortable durring the pain.  I thought the infection was the answer, but its not, becase its back, its here again, and we did an agressive antibiotic treatment to clear it all up. I have lost 35lbs in the last 3months.  Sometimes when my side hurts, i feel so swollen inside that I feel as if my ribs could poke something when I move.  Feel sick in the morning, and then as i get active it tones down a bit, but then the pain returns and by the end of the day my side is aching badly.  I feel like I was to put my hand on my side above my right hip, squeeze and pull out whatever is wrong.

Hi,
Pain in the right lower abdomen could be due to ulcerative colitis itself or conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease, constipation, IBS etc.

now i am not a doctor or medical expert but as a fellow patient of colitis, i can tell you i went through the same things you describe above a couple of years back diuring a really bad attack. i used to have a bad pain on my side. i love sleeping on my side but it was agony. it was sore to touch even the slightest lightest of touches. appraently that was because of the inflammation in the gut. i also used to wake up with exhaustion and depression everday but i promise you, you will get through it. just keep strong and keep working with a dr u feel happy with and any specialists to help your pain. it takes time but you will be ok again although it may not seem like that right now.
