Will I need colon surgery?

So for 2 months I've been having  diarrhoea and I've been to the doctors 5 times. I've had a blood test and 2 urine tests that all came out fine, but I'd feel tired and nauseous for a while after I went to the toilet. The last time I went to the doctor she touched around my stomach area and felt a lump. She says it's a overflow and I was on lactulose 2 times a day for a week, I was on and off the toilet non stop I passed a lot of poo and thought I'm better. I'm not on that medicine now but I still see a lot of mucus after I go to the toilet. I've only passed one stool normally without medicine since I stopped taking it a 2 days ago. I'm worried on what to do because I feel normal and not naseous or bad, but when I go to the toilet I see a lot of white and yellow mucus, I don't know if I should carry on taking the lactulose or not.
