Worried sick! Do i have colon cancer?

Ohkay, *touch wood* i don't wish i would have it, i am a vegan but i don't really take vegetables, i am 15 years old this year and i have afew of the symptoms! i've been telling my mom but she says i don't have and obviously its kinda childish telling every single one you have cancer...-.- ok, i have hemorrhoids i think, because i have constipation for years and last year i found blood on my toilet paper and from there i check on internet and it says its hemerrhoids. But than later, i had black stools sometimes and  i don't really bother. And ytd, i had black tar stool (not everyday ) and keep suspecting myself having cancer.. i also feel lightheaded like tired when i have nothing to do lol. But today, it was brown like normal and just small black thing on toilet paper (eeewww) okok. I had pain under my left ribcage and its like gas pain for just less than a min ( it isnt very serious ). I don't know if i have Colon cancer eh. And i don't wish to see a doc and fool myself! i am just 15 years old, no heritate of it.

Colon cancer is extremely rare at your age.  Our stool can turn dark due to foods we eat and if turns back to normal color then there's no need to worry.  Constipation can and does cause hemorrhoids which bleed bright red blood.
Are you taking a stool softener like Miralax to make passing your stool easier?  You should so that you're not straining and causing your hemorrhoids to act up  If your stool continues to be black and tarry then you need to make your mom take this seriously...although that doesn't always mean cancer.  You still need to determine the cause of bleeding.  Tell your mom how this has consumed you and ask her to get you checked out if only to put your mind at ease.  This anxiety with your health can snowball and become a real problem for you...so you want to nip this in the bud for two reasons...1. To make sure everything is okay 2. To put your mind at ease and rid yourself of this anxiety.  Let your mom know that "health anxiety" is a real thing and can become debilitating due to all the symptoms the worrying creates.  Have her google "health anxiety" and see for herself.  Plus, you are only guessing that you have a hemorrhoid, you need to get checked out to know for sure.  It could also be a small tear in the anus from straining or large bowel movements... all of this is treatable.  Stop using the word "cancer" you're only creating more anxiety for yourself.  Tell your mom what you've experienced and ask her to take you to the doctor.  I really don't feel you have cancer, there are so many other things that can cause your symptoms.  Try to relax and see the doctor, you'll be okay.

While it is true that it is rare at  your age, it is also rare at my age of diagnosis, too.  As a small child I went through many of the symptoms that may or may not have been Chrons or colitis.  Because it was assumed by adults that I went to the bathroom all the time to get out of doing things, chores, homework, being in class, etc. I kind of blew it off and waited until it was darn near almost too late.  What could have been easily treated turned into multiple surgeries, an ileostomy bag, lots of chemo and radiation and some very unpleasant side effects that continue on to this day.  If you think something isn't right, then at least have it checked out by a doctor.

Hi Sweetie,
I just wanted to give u a big hug and say i have stage 3 colon cancer.I found out May 23,2012.I have done 6 weeks of radiation and chemo pills.Had surgery to remove a 4 1/2 inch tumor and my doctor left a hole in my colon which has caused me so many problems.I am doing my 9th IV chemo treatment on Monday. And have to have the same surgery i had the first time on June 6th. I had blood in my stool for over 2 years.I never thought i had colon cancer. But i thought it was hemorrhoids. And i got very tried and felt weak.My stool got thin.YOU ARE SO YOUNG HONEY.I REALLY DONT THINK ITS COLON CANCER.U are wise and not crazy.U have blood coming from your rectum and that is something a doctor needs to check.I hope your mother will make a doctors appt for u.But i want to stress that i dont feel its colon cancer. And i am 55.My mom two years before me had colon cancer. She was 72 when she got it. Surgery took care of it.Cause it was caught early.I wasnt so lucky.Wish i was as smart as u and would of checked on signs of colon cancer. But u are 15 honey. It is very rare for a 15 year old to have colon cancer. And u said it doesnt run in your family. So i would cross off colon cancer as the problem.Cause of your problems with hard stool. That can cause bleeding honey.Or it really could be hemorrhoids.
And to answer your last post sweetie.I dont think the blood u saw was from your colon sweetie. U could be bleeding more this month and it may look like it came from your rectum. Please have your mother get u in to see your doctor.Even hemorroids should be checked.I had many problems with those to in my time. And i also have IBS.Please keep me posted on u sweetie. My email is ***@**** If u would like to get a hold of me.And if u email me i would be happy to give u my number so we could talk through things.I was 15 once.LOL and i have 3 sons and 2 wonderful daughter in laws. And they all come to me when something isnt right with them.Im called doctor mom.LOL But put colon cancer out of your mind sweetheart. And just know this old lady cares about u and only wants to put your mind to rest. You arent crazy at all.Just scared cause of the things that are happening to u.Sending u lots of love and many big loving hugs.Linda

You're never bothering us, we're here to help and support you.  I know you're scared...but you really have nothing to be scared about. You need to talk to your mom again about all of this, I think therapy would greatly benefit you.  If she doesn't listen then put it in a letter to her, we often "hear" more when we are reading it.  If you get no help at home got to your school counselor, he/she will make sure your mom understands that this anxiety is real and taking over your life.

Pressure in your bowel can be caused by IBS which is not serious and is treated with medication.  You have to be careful as you may be developing "health anxiety" which can consume your life.  If you cannot stop worrying about your health on your own you may want to get into therapy for help in doing this.  You're young and healthy, you should be living your life and not worrying it away!  Do your best to accept that you are okay and stop looking for things to be wrong...this leads to health anxiety.

The shape, size and color of our stool varies from day to day, so don't put too much emphasis on this.  You're fine.

Hello again. Well i have never seen the doc because i found out that the stools are from chocolates and etc. But ytd i had a change of bowel , and i am not trying to say its colon cancer but i am stressed out about this! its so weird, i have a normal hard poop at first and later suddenly it all went smooth and soft and its narrow. I was shock when i see a long like snake stool went down but it wasn't shape as pencil thin after finishing, and for tdy it went on like this but NOT a shape of A NARROW stool. Well, is it weird? i donno. and i don't think is something very serious ?

Hi.Colon cancer is extremely rare at your age. Gasses are forms due to undigested food,  Our stool can turn dark due to foods we eat and if turns back to normal color then there's no need to worry.  Constipation can and does cause hemorrhoids which bleed bright red blood. Symptoms of colon cancer are abdomen pain, blood in stool, excessive weight loss, weight gain, anxiety, etc.

While I don't feel there is anything serious going on, you still need to know where the bleeding is coming from.  Put the idea of colon cancer out of your head, obcessing over things like this can snowball and makes your anxiety even worse.  See the doctor for your piece of mind.

Think about what you had eaten prior to seeing this...food is often the culprit.  Blood on the tissue is usually from hemorrhoids or a small tear in the anus, both will get better.  You are not going to die but I think you need to see your doctor.  Put your concerns in a letter to your mom, plead with her to take you to the doctor.  Often when we have to read the words we are more apt to hear what you're saying. Tell her "something" is bleeding and it needs to be addressed if only to put your mind at ease. If this doesn't work maybe you just need to show her the proof!
