I was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer in Jan 2009 with metastis to abdomen and liver. I followed with 5 surgeries, chemo and radiation, subsequent blood clots in the superior vena cave (midchest) swelling of upper body. I made it through all of these and I am doing well. STAY POSITIVE, tell your inner self to HEAL ITSELF, eat right, and take in the blessings that surround you. pep1951

Like pep 1951 I was dxed stage 4 with metastasis to the liver and lungs. I have had chemo , radiation , and surgeries to the colon liver and both lungs . My diagnosis and orginal surger was in 1996 . I am symptom free except for some mild shortness of breath on long ( one mile ) dog walks and yard work and some mild bowel issues . There are many of us who have survived and led very good lives with this disease . Pep 1951 is spot on with her advice . Live each day to the fullest . One day at a time can really add up to a lot of years.

I feel for you.My Dad passed from this missed up illness. Sorry to say 3 months to the day we were given the news. Please take care of yourself emotionally and take very good care of your sprit. Make Mom as comfortable as you can. Hold her hand and talk to her. My Dad was very scared and we gave him all the support one could handle. I pray that you find comfort.  Just remember take care of yourself please. I was one of his main care givers and I wasn't mentally ready for the events that was going to happen. And I fell into a very dark place. If you are her care giver please talk to someone (even if you aren't) about your feelings and what you are going through. I didn't and I couldn't cope with his death. I wil keep you and your Mom in my thoughts and I will pray for you and your family.
