Potassium - what about different types?

Thru personal trial of the types of Magnesium (many) I have learned some work, and do absolutely nothing. You get what you pay for. So I'm applying that same lesson to Potassium.

Potassium is good for nerves and muscles just like Mag, this is good for Hashimoto hypothyroid individuals like myself as is can relieve muscle and lower extremity tightness , aches in the feet and legs.

So instead of spending $ on trial and error, what do you all know about pros / cons of different Potassium? And have you ever seen it sublingual , I have not seen it yet in a store.  I'm thinking sublinual will not interfere with thyroid med absorbion in the stomach ( a concern).

Potassium Iodide is not good for a Hashimoto thyroid, regular hypothyroid its ok for. As a form of Iodine it can inflame a 'Hashi' thyroid and the thyroid rapidly absorbs this. That all I know about potassium. So what else is there with the other types?

I would also advise caution with potassium -- unlike magnesium, it's quite prevalent in the horrible average American diet, even to excess.  I know it's expensive and hard to find someone to do it, but it's good to get potassium levels before supplementing with it, again unlike magnesium, which unless you eat a ton of fresh green leafy vegetables most of us just don't get enough of anymore.  It can help many people, but just sayin'.  As to the form, that really depends on the person.  Any good health food store will have potassium in absorbable form.  Potassium iodide is an iodine supplement, not a potassium supplement.  Every mineral must be chelated with something to be absorbed properly, but the chelation agent will be broken off more or less efficiently in different people.
