Natural iodine is a long used remedy for low thyroid, usually derived from seaweed. It's in an organic form that's easy to assimilate and is a dietary rather than medication solution, which is why I mentioned it. Something to think about but only provided it really is low thyroid and of course that it isn't Hashimoto's. Good luck.
ty, iodine level is fine. We tend to think it is low thyroid as he has so many hypo symptoms. and family history too. pretty much ruled out desiccated thyroid supplement though. Thanx to this site we are visiting a pediatric endocrinologist in the near future.
Have you checked levels of dietary iodine? Wouldn't want to mess with a 10 year old by giving hormones on my own, but the natural approach would be natural iodine such as found in seaweed, but only if the thyroid is truly low. Levels naturally fluctuate, and diagnosing without expert help is very difficult to be right.
