While this may be muscle pain, the symptoms are also characteristic of a thrombosis, which is essentially a blockage of the primary artery in the leg. It may also be due to what is called intermittant claudication. Clots can be caused by dehydration and inactivity. It is impossible to make a differential diagnosis on the internet. If this is a clot, or a developing clot, it requires immediate intervention. If the physician thinks you pulled a muscle, then gymdandee's suggestion are most helpful and correct.
Thank you for responding. I really appreciate it. I will try that
Forgot to add you should also do light exercise like using a bike.
If it is a muscle as your doctor stated you should ice it a few times per day for about 20 minutes every few hours . Don't apply ice directly use a towel. You have 4 muscles that make up the quad. When they say a pulled muscle It's actually a tear. As stated if it's a muscle you should also stretch your quad. Lay on your stomach and taking the leg that is OK bend it back by the ankle and try and notice how far back you can pull it without forcing it. Now take the injured leg and do the same thing you don't want to pull it back any further than the other leg. The reason to pull the leg back is because when the tear heals you don't want it to heal shortened.
No not like I should. It goes as far as my knee, but most of the time , the pain is in my upper thigh. It just started 2 days ago. Thank you so much for responding. I went to seethe doctor about it , and they think that I pulled a muscle. But I am not sure if it is a pulled muscle or not. It kept me awake last night.
Do you exercise? Does it ever extend down the leg?
