Can upper jaw surgery lead to root canals years later?

I was 17 (19 years ago) when I had maxillofacial surgery to correct an open bite issue.  My wisdom teeth were extracted at the same time and my jaws wired shut for 6 weeks until everything healed.
I have been very happy with the results but in the last 4 years I have had 4 root canals in the upper front incisors and canines.

Is there any documented correlation between upper jaw surgery and the rate of incidence of root canals in the affected jaw?  I am now worried that the rest of my upper front teeth, and possibly the molars, will eventually require root canals.  I have had no trauma to my mouth other than the surgery almost 20 years ago and a filling in 2 of the teeth prior to the root canal procedure.
Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Jason Macdonald

Thanks for your response.  I hadn't considered that possibility but I will discuss it with my dentist.

Orthognathic surgery may jeopardize blood supply of teeth, which may result in pulpal necrosis.
