Pain after wisdom tooth removeable

About 2 weeks ago I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed.  I still have pain in the area where the tooth was removed.   I'm not sure if I have a dry socket or not.  I don't smell any bad odor from the area.  The tooth next to where  the wisdom tooth was has had a root canal, so I don't know if that tooth is the problem.  I'm wandering if maybe I might have an infection going on.  Pain pills are keeping the pain at bay for now, but, I can't keep taking them just to mask the pain.

Normal healing of 3rd molar extraction if they were impacted could take up to 4 weeks. If it was an infection (dry socket) you would have been in excruciating pain, so based on what you describing I do not think it is a dry socket. Give it another couple of weeks and if you still have discomfort please see the oral surgeon again for evaluation.

Thank you for your response, the pain has eased up in the last 2 days.  I only have needed 2  Advils to stop the pain.  I feel you were right on with you answer.
