Hi,
It is good that your EKG was normal. This rules out cardiac causes of the chest pain.. Other causes of chest pain include: asthma, pneumonia, a blood clot to the lung, the collapse of a small area of a lung or pneumothorax, inflammation of the lining around the lung or pleurisy. In these cases, the chest pain often worsens when you take a deep breath or cough and usually feels sharp. We should also rule out strain or inflammation of the muscles and tendons between the ribs and anxiety and rapid breathing. Rapid breathing during anxiety is most probably the cause.
Are there other signs or symptoms present? Was there a previous trauma to the chest? If injury, over-exertion, or coughing have caused muscle strain, your chest wall is often tender or painful when you press a finger at the location of the pain. This can often be treated at home. Over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, ice, and rest may help.
If this persists, it would be best to have this evaluated further by your doctor for proper management. A complete medical history and physical examination is important to reach a diagnosis. Take care and regards.
I had abdominal pains in random areas and shortness of breath sometimes but most of those symptoms went away. My doctor thinks I have acid reflux but I think he might be wrong because when I took the antacids, my heart pounded really hard and I could hear it, so I stopped taking it and it went away. Overall though, I had injuries only to my tail bone and my foot, but nothing to my chest. I don't think those injuries would be related to chest pains though.
