Steri strips on areola

Hi Dr. Rosenberg,

I was wondering if it is okay to leave the steri strips on a superficial 'slit'?

I looks like one end of my incision where the knot was on the areola - either the scab or the remaining stitches had come off which resulted in a superficial cut / slit looking spot, I cleaned it with alcohol pads and dried it completely to keep bleeding under control, and replace a new steri strip.

Will skin grow under the the steri strip as the wound (the tiny slit) heals along with the rest of the incision?

Your insights will be appreciated.

thank you

There is no problem leaving the steristrips in place unless there is significant drainage.  If so, then topical antibiotic ointment a light gauze dressing wound be best.
