Tummy Tuck

My best friend had a tummy tuck by a doctor who was horrible a year ago.  She has since had repeated issues with her belly button.  He left stitches in there and they are slowly but surely trying to make there way out. Her belly button is not very irritated & infected not to mention she is now getting blisters all around her belly button due to all the liquid.  She went to the ER because of the pain this is causing her but no doctor will perform surgery on her due to the liability.  They also informed her that if it keeps going this way the infection can spread into her blood which may cause death in the end.  She tried calling lawyers and no one will take the case and no one will fix her surgery.  Does anyone have an idea of what step we can take next?? She has 3 young children and i would hate for them to loose such a great mother!

This problem most likely is due to suture reaction.  While the condition is not necessarily fatal, the area needs to be explored and revised with removal of any foreign objects (sutures).  There surely must be some surgeon (even a general surgeon) in your area that will evaluate and treat her if she does not have the confidence in her original surgeon.

Ask the Dr if the stitches used were a ble braided sticjed made by a company called Ethicon. I too had similar problems w these sutures in a platysmal plication. I have found 100s of patients so far w similar problems. It is the same co that was sued in a class actionb for a suture called vicryl. I think anither lawsuit is called for! Please contact me at ***@**** I am still haveing issues 2 years post op. Necrotzed fat and lymph nodes etc. 3 surgeries so far! These are FDA approved sutures. It is not the Dr.s faukt rather the manufacturer of these horrible sutures being rejected and causing infections! We need a good attorney!! There are a few out there we just need to find one!
