Digestive Problems with child

My son has had stomach pains off & on for awhile.  He is 7, so really didnt think much of it.  For stomach hurts when he doesnt want to do something. Anyway this evening, he stated he had some diareha at school today.  This evening, he had a good bit of blood and mucus.  Not really any stool.  Called the after hours clinic, and took him there.  While there he thought he had to have a BM, but again just lots of mucus and bright red blood.  They of course were able to collect, and will send of for testing.  The MD did an anal exam, and found no tearing nor hemmroids. Since he had blood one time about 7 months ago, which I blew off thought is was from straining, and being that he has had abdominal pains he felt there was some need to be worried this time.  Which I am very worried.  He did have a URI and bilateral ear infections over the weekend, and had been on an antibiotic, he is hoping it could just be a bout of colonitis.  I am hoping not early stages of Chrons disease. Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Of note, as of tonight his ears are much better, and URI is better as well.  Still running fever @ 102.

Thank you so much for responding. Don't think it is food poisoning, only because the stomach pains were not severe and no vomiting.  Just pain in the lower part of the abdomen at times.  Just hear & there stomach ache.  Put will ask about the Giardia.  For we live in the South, and of course they boys are always out riding bikes etc on trails.  Thank you again for your response. This is my first time on here, so was uncertain if anyone would respond.

He may have a severe case of food poisoning. Bloody stool is a symptom of this. Also make sure that he is checked for Giardia (a parasite someone gets from drinking stream or lake water) if nothing else comes up.
