Gall Stones and Crohn's

I have Crohn's Disease for over 20 years now. Recently, I found out I have many Gall Stones and is causing a lots of pain. My general doctor suggest the removal of the Gallbladder but I'm concern about without it will make my Crohn's worse. Wouldn't just removing the stones better then without Gallbladder?

My mother has Crohn's Disease and I've had my gallbladder removed. I've been through hell since I had it taken out 2 years ago. Constant diarrhea - and only after I went back to the doctor and was prescribed meds to take the rest of my life, the diarrhea stopped. I ask frequently if I can have my gallbladder back, but then again, I was in severe pain and could not even keep water down, so I guess my gallbladder is better off out of me, but it still doesn't change the fact that you can't live a normal life without medication in 25% of cases.

Wow that was a radical decision to remove your Gall Bladder to see if it affected  your Crohn's..........I have Crohn's and I have Polyp's in my Gall Bladder and not any Doctor ever mentioned removing my Gall Bladder......it is preferred that I keep it unless something happens with the Polyp's...so far so good......

I had Crohn's Disease for 41/2 years and 2 years ago i was also thought to have bilary dyskinesia and at that time I was having a really hard time with my Crohn's and the doctor suggested I have my gallbladded removed to rule out a Crohn's flare since it is an accessory organ and not neccesarily needed....but I feel having my gallbladder removed has not affected my Crohn's at all

Even though the Gall Bladder is a non vital organ....it does aid in the digestion process and stores bile made by the liver...  In the past it was thought that a person really did not need to have a Gall Bladder and before deciding whether to have it completely removed or just have the Gall stones removed please research it fully.....Here is a web site to check out:

It is always good to research before you make an extreme decision........and make the right choice for you..........take care

Hi there,

i'm pretty sure removing your Gallbladder wont affect your Crohn's disease.
I've gotten my gallbladder removed before, you have nothing to worry about, since when they remove it, they remove ALL the stones, unlike removing a couple of stones only, its not as good. Getting your gallbladder removed doesnt do anything, nothing changes after, exept you have no pain and no more stones, it feels great.

If i'd be you, I would get it removed completely.

xo, much love
