I need some kind of answer. Please

My partner has been in pain for a few weeks. It started with what we thought was the flu. He feels fine during the day. In the middle of the night, early morning he wakes up with horrible stomach pains with nausea, at the same time he has diarrhea. After the diarrhea he usually can feel good enough to fall asleep. The other symptom he has is fatigue. He has failed to see a doctor due to the fact that he does not have insurance. I have looked up every symptom and cause on the computer, i have found diseases that have more symptoms that he does not suffer from. Please let me know if anyone has any idea. Thank you

I am not a Dr., but the symptoms you are discussing are quite similar to the symptoms I had before I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease.

Your partner needs to see a Intestinal Disease Specialist of a G.I. Specalist as soon as possible. By waiting you could risk serious complications.

Or the situation maybe nothing more than allergies, maybe to glueten. But either way your partner needs to be seen by a doctor.

Hi, and welcome to our forum.  The majority of respondents on this Community Forum are patients themselves, with either Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis.  We are not doctors or nurses and cannot give you medical advice or diagnose a specific disease. Indeed, Dr. Kevin Pho, who responds to questions on the Gastroenterology forum, will only give you general advice, and first and foremost is, "see a Doctor".  Your partner's symptoms could be those of many different diseases or infections and he really needs to have blood and stool samples taken to try and eliminate the simple causes. Invasive testing (i.e. colonoscopy and endoscopy) are very expensive and will only be considered if no abnormalities can be found that are simple to deal with.

I live in the UK (thankfully) where we have excellent, free socialised medicine, but having American friends, I am aware of the requirement for private medical insurance in the US, unless one is indigent and on Medicaid.  If your partner is ill enough for it to be impacting on his job or lifestyle, I am sure the ER dept at your local hospital will see him, and he can work out a repayment plan.

I am sorry I cannot help you further, only point you in the right direction for help and a proper diagnosis.

Liz.
