Pain under my ribs and upper left quadrent

Hello, since feb of this year, i have been getting a pain underneath my last rib going down a few inches into my stomach, its now spread to the upper left hand side. I have had a few ultrasounds, CT Scans, bloodtests, the works. The only thing they found was a 2 inch cyst in my kidney, which they said that should not be causing the pain. Kidney stones and such run in my family.

I am at the end of my rope, I have no idea what my problem could be. I am always on pain killers, which are a temporarly reprieve at best, I am looking to find out the root cause of my problem. They said my thyriod, is fine, my liver is a "bit" fatty, and everything seems to be ok.

I do not want to be in pain anymore! I eat healthy, am a "bit" overweight I eat allot of fruit, veggies and carbs.

Shells17, I was just wondering how they treated the gastritis and inflammation they found in your tests?? I am new to Crohn's and my symptoms are mostly controlled by a low fodmap diet right now, but having pain in the same location ( upper left abdomen just under the rib cage and extending a little lower ). I'm waiting for the results of my MRE. Any info on the treatment they gave you would be appreciated! I am trying to avoid taking steroids and then long-term meds since my symptoms are pretty well-controlled. Would just like to stop this weird pain. Thank you.

I live in canada, all the gastro doctors are booked up 3 or 4 months in advance i booked a gastro doctor back in feb, and will see him june 28, i have a feeling the gastro doctor is the cure to what ails me. I had some acupuncture done, in a desperate attempt to fix me and wow, i feel like 50% better day by day, i dont even have to take pain killers so much!

Thanks for the advice on what tests to get done, im in maui right now on vacation, and im almost tempted to look up a gastro doctor here and just pay for the tests!

Is there a reason that they haven't performed an endoscopy or colonoscopy? Have you gone to a gastrointerologist specifically? I was getting pain under my left ribs that also radiated down into my lower left abdomen. I just had an endoscopy/colonoscopy and found gastritis in my stomach and severe inflammation in my sigmoid colon. I took some blood tests to see if the inflammation is caused by ulcerative colitis or crohns.

With your symptoms it sounds like it wouldn't hurt to get some gastro tests done. I got a CT of my abdomen, too, and it didn't show these problems - my gastro doc ordered the colonscopy, etc. because the CT's often don't show the real problem and sometimes show problems that aren't there. For example, my CT showed that I had diverticulitis, but when they viewed my colon in the colonoscopy I didn't have any diverticuli. I would get these tests done.
