Pregnancy and Crohns

I was diagnosed with Crohns disease about 5 years ago, recently I found out I was pregnant. Has anyone here had any complications due to Crohns during pregnancy, or know of anything that could be helpful advice

Talk to your doctor about taking a stool softener like Colace. When I was pregnant my gastro told me to take 1 a day, my OB confirmed it was ok (so check with them too). I don't know if it did the trick or if I was just lucky but I wasn't constipated at all during my pregnancy.

Congratulations.

Thanks for responding, Ive had some pain in my small intestines where its at but thats about all Ive had for a while, I dont take any medicine for crohns I found that it made me go to the bathroom worse so I stopped, and it seems that things are clear for now and also being pregnant has made me constipated so I guess its kinda evened out .

hi, I had 2 babys before being diagnosed and have had 2 babys since being diagnosed, with all 4 pregnancys it has been the exact same, so i have had no trouble with crohns at all during, but after my last I did have a few days of stomach pain and a bit of diarreah. both my babys born when i had crohns were well, but with my lasti had to have 4 weekly scans due to being on azathioaprine, they thought she may be small, and she was compared to my others but not small where there were problems. good luck

I was diagnosed with it 11 years ago!!! Sever one now. I have it also in my lungs!!!!!!
I have two healthy boys 3yrs old , and 4 mns old.
During my first pregnancy, Crhon's was more active, I carried to term and had a great easy vaginal delivery. After I had the baby, Crohn's did go into remrtion for 2 long years.
My second pregnancy, was easier, Croh's was not active. After an easier delivery than the first one, my Crohn's was more active.
Dr. told me, 1/3 women get worse, 1/3 better, 1/3 no difference
Hope this help, good luck
