I am a female who was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at age 21 (13 years ago). I'm otherwise pretty active and healthy. For the last 5 years I have suffered with the most horrendous boils on my buttocks very close to the anus, and high upper inner thigh and groin-one last Christmas was the size and length of a thumb, had three heads at times and came up and down for 6 weeks. I can't even begin to describe the pain. The ones on my buttocks only rarely drain themselves and can feel the size of a golf ball or larger under the skin. I've always paid attention to food I've eaten if I ever feel sick or odd, so when I discovered a link to me eating FRUIT and the consequent flare up of boils I was in disbelief and ultra excited at the same time! I have eliminated fruit from my diet ( I compensate by eating a lot of vegetables) (and after a few trials)no longer get boils! I have been boil free for 7 months which is a miracle after what I've been through with them. It's changed my life and could help others, especially because you are trying to eat 'healthy' and inadvertently causing yourself grief. I have noticed particular severity from apples, bananas and kiwifruit. Unbelievable I know but as I say it's changed my life, if you're suffering why it give it a go for a couple of months to see, eat veges for good nutrients too. GOOD LUCK!!
