hi im on pentasa, 4 twice a day, and azathiaprine 1 three times a day, ive been on them now for nearly 3 yrs and they are working really well for me.
4/4/08 my gastro doctor started me on Asacol instead of Pentasa because for a couple of days I could not get out of bed because the pain was so bad. Thanks to yall for comments and suggestions.
Hi, I've been on Pentasa 4 in AM, 4 in PM and 6MP. The Entocort worked for awhile. The 6MP seems to be working better.
Yes, it sounds like you might have an infection if you have the night sweats. I am off and on Flagyl for the infections I get but that is usually only for 7-10 day increments. I have been on Imuran (100mg 2x a day) and since November 2007 and varying doses of Prednisone since June 2007. However, I started having severe relapses with the diarrhea, nausea, lethargey, mouth sores and severe arthritis so they upped my Prednisone and added Celebrex and Ultracet for the pain, stiffness and swelling with the arthritis. That is not working so well now so I am going to be swtiched to Humira injections. My GI wanted to try the Remicade infusions but my insurance won't pay for it and I can't afford it out of pocket.
I have been on 500mg 4x a day for the past 4 years. it worked really well for a while, but now it is not. I have been on Entocort for about a month now and it seems to be helping since my last flare up. I also just started taking Cipro which is an antibiotic so well see what happenes.
I have had crohn's since I was 14. i am 63 now.
i have taken every med under the sun and some over it.
i am now on endocort and Humira. I was getting Remicade infusions.
sounds like you have an infection (probably bacterial) hence the night sweats.
the flagyl might help that. endocort is a good type of prednisone to take.
not so many side effects.
good luck.
Hey there. I saw that no one answered your post. I don't know if this helps or not but my Gastro doc prescribed Entocort and Nexium to me. I also took Flagyl the first few weeks. That was an antibiotic. The Entocort is a steroid to help with the inflamation and ulcers and obviously the Nexium is for excess stomach acid. I guess it's working. I've been taking them for a few months now. They are still trying to figure out if I really have Crohns or not. If so, I guess I have a fairly mild form of it. Still, because of my ulcers and inflamation the doctor said that this was a standard medication used for Crohns. It works in the small intestine, I guess.
I don't know if any of this is useful to you or not. I hope that you find something that works for you. I wish you well. God bless.
