no insurance

what to do when one has severe symptoms of colitis or IBS or chrones... but no health insurance. the symptoms have been pretty consistent for the past three months and at times mean tripping to the bathroom 40 times per day but usually not for much more than the mucus, the urgency is there but not a lot of actual elimination. so without health insurance what gastro intestinal doctor will work with me? i have not the means for medical help. I just moved to Berkeley and called the free clinic but they have not the resources to test for this kind of disorder. I would be comfortable just to get diagnosed so I know what to do from there I can make educated decisions as to treament, but it could be any thing though it includes a feverishness in the colon, burning like ulcers, mucus, sometimes blood and tissue, frequent urgency and discomfort, at times sitting still is difficult, sitting is often painful or just uncomfortable and at times fell like ants in the pants, antsy and irritated down there.

well i am taking control of my own situation. this is a physical dis order that is effected by thoughts, irritated by stress, even minute stress but it is physically based and i am treating it with raw foods, herbs, cat's claw, pau d'arco, hemp seeds (largly for the vitamin e), vigilent change to a raw diet where i once was before this mess happened (really got full blown after eating a lot of processed food when this body mind had adapted itself to a raw food lifestyle, consciousness and eating way of life and thought. i return and put up with the bumps and bruises, raw food does cause a diff kind of stress but in the long run is more healing that the standard fare!

Yes, I know the situation well. I've been there. Most doctors refuse to take on new patients that don't have insurance. However, if they did give you a diagnosis, then you would have a pre-existing condition, which no insurance company is going to cover. You should get insurance ASAP. Borrow money if you have to. The maintenance medicine alone costs $400 a month.

The insurance issue hits close to home with me and I can empathize with your situation. Are there any government supported insurance programs in Ca? Programs that are different than medicaid but can be obtained for little to no cost. Check online programs through local Department of Social Services. Good luck!
