Thanks for looking at it El.
For me it eases the anxiety a bit to know that the bulk of our debt is "all in the family", so to speak and that it is not a crisis.
I agree though that we do spend too much-the key differences between you and me are what to make those cuts on. Maybe for a later discussion.
I don't have the stamina today.
Best :)

You're not leaving CE for good, are you? Not sure if I read that right. You mention leaving CE, but not for how long. Your vacay is a week, so I can only hope you're just leaving CE for the week, and that you'll be back after your vacay is over with...

Well, I for one, feel MUCH better about the $16T national DEBT we have (after watching the video). Not really though...

A key point he made, is that we need to concentrate on reducing the deficit (amount we take in vs. amount we spend). Bottom-line is... we spend too much money (the money we bring in doesn't cover our expenditures).

If we were to COMBINE the Democrat idea of raising taxes (on the top 1-2% of earners) and the Republican idea of slashing spending (on entitlement programs, etc), then we could reduce our yearly deficit, which would in turn translate into paying down the debt (over time).

We can't continue to spend more than we bring in, period.

That was my take on what he said, anyway.

Sounds wonderful to me!  And I have a special request.....if he snags a bear, can I have a bit of the meat? Love love love bear meat....stewed in red wine, low temp for a looonnnnggggg time really tenderizes it.  So good.

Makes me sad to hear someone poached momma.  There is good reason that's not legal.  I am very pro hunting, but wish people would play by the rules.  They exist for a reason.  I'm proud of your hubby for getting the warden, good for him!  And smart to stay out of site of poachers (and momma!).  He sounds like a good guy.

Enjoy every second of your peace and quiet.  There is nothing quite like a holiday in the mountains to reground you and give you a sense of peace (at least it always works for me).

Thanks rivil, can't wait.  We've been doing this for years, since our daughter (now 14) was a baby.  We have a week in June, and one in Nov, both weeks usually fall on both kid's b-days, so it's kind of a tradition to celebrate up there.

It's nothing overly fancy, but it's pretty and serene...hubby loves the hunting...it's bear season right now, he loves that (yikes).  Last year, he witnessed a crazy scene where he came up on a BIG Mama bear.  Luckily she didn't see him, but in the meantime, a bunch of guys showed up and poached the mama bear.  :0(

Hubby got the game warden involved and everything.  He's not one to be scared, but he was rather rattled.  First of course, because of the bear...then, 5 guys with big guns, he was afraid what would have happened if they had seen him.  Crazy stuff!

There's a domestic elk herd close to where we stay, we always go and see them.  Just good ole family fun!  I'll have a lot of down time, this week is mostly for hubby to hunt...me and the kids will just kick back in the condo.  Hopefully they will have a decent internet connection in case I get real bored!  LOL

I think they already have a good bit of snow, now THAT I'm not ready for just yet...we don't start getting good snowfalls till Dec/Jan/Feb.

Oh gee, I've rambled.  Imagine that.  ;0)

I'll peek at it later...I'm going to have to leave CE, strictly because it's my new guilty pleasure...and my new fave reason to procrasinate doing important things...lmao.

We're going away for a week on saturday, to a timeshare we have in the PA mountains...I have like NOTHING done...grrrr.

The economy is a great topic to discuss.  Frankly, a lot of it confuses the hell out of me.

Okay he talks fast-I had to watch it 3 times to catch up with him.
I have no background in economics, maybe somebody here could elaborate and deepen the conversation?
