With the family's blessing and very heavy hearts we regret to inform you, Officer Daniel Webster, a nearly nine year veteran of the Albuquerque Police Department, is the officer who was senselessly shot in the line of duty last night (October 21, 2015).
Officer Webster is a highly decorated officer. He was named the Department's Uniformed Officer of the year in 2013.
He is a retired veteran from the U.S. Army where he served as a paratrooper.
Officer Webster has served in many capacities within the department, including Impact Detective, and is currently a patrol officer stationed in the Southeast Area Command.
Family and friends are by his side as he has undergone two crucial surgeries and faces many more. He is currently in critical but stable condition. His family is overwhelmed by the community's thoughts, prayers and generosity.
Many businesses have donated food, lodging and other resources so family members can concentrate on Officer Webster's recovery.
Gift card donations for the family or well wishes can be dropped off at any substation or mailed to the Main Police Station - 400 Roma NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102 - Attention: Chief's Office, Officer Webster.
As news of this irrational shooting spread, a mother who knows all too well what Officer Webster’s family is going through, reached out to the Department. The suspect who shot Officer Webster, Davon Lymon, 34, also murdered her son, Ronald Blake Chanslor in 2001.
Yes if citizens followed the law they would not be killed or beat.
