Walk Out in Protest to Gun Violence

I was surprised when I got an email notification from our school district.  They planned ahead for yesterday's walk out.  Kids were allowed to do it but were to go to a designated spot in their school for roughly 14 minutes.  lol  My sons' middle school allowed kids to go.  Wondering if my sons participated?  Neither did.  One said he was in the middle of something in class and the other said that he was working on something that was 3 points of extra credit and he wanted those points.  Not too political yet, my boys.

Anyway, where is this headed?  Do you think the 'movement' of youth getting involved in calling for gun control will have any effect?

I'm sad to see so many kids feel so helpless and unsafe at school.  I'm more concerned that we haven't done more towards student/school safety.
