more proof in favor of forced sterilization

OH YA, GOING TO THE STORE HAVE FUN IN THE TUB BOYS!!!
SHE NEVER DESERVES MORE KIDS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- A 23-year-old Colorado Springs mother faces felony charges for allegedly leaving her two young children in a bathtub where one was scalded and drowned.

At about 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to an apartment on S. Chelton Road after getting a 911 call for an unconscious 9-month-old boy. Paramedics could not revive him.

Police say the child’s mother, Estella Toleafoa, left the boy and his 2-year-old brother in the bathtub while she visited a nearby convenience store and restaurant.

The infant, identified as Erich Tyler Jr., suffered severe burns from bath water over most of his body.

“The El Paso County Coroner's Office has completed an autopsy and determined the cause of death was due to scalding and drowning,” Colorado Springs Police said.

Toleafoa was arrested Wednesday and booked on a felony charge of Child Abuse Recklessly Causing Death to a Child.

Police say Erich’s father was out of state at the time of the incident.

my best friend knew a girl from her church who was bathing her 15 month old and got a phone call.. she ran to the phone thinking she would hear if anything happened, she was on the phone for a couple of minutes and when she went back in her little boy was dead.  I cannot imagine this kind of guilt and pian.  I would never leave my baby for a minute after I heard this

I had a nightmare and I think it's because of this story.  In it Warren and I had Ryder at the swimming pool. Warren got out and I followed for some reason, forgetting about our son!  I dove back in and he was just floating their unconscious.  I woke up crying and felt just sick.  How could anyone ever leave their child unattended, especially in the bathtub.  It takes about a second for something to happen.  Tab, I also have to wonder if she wasn't drunk or on something....I just can't get past the fact that something had to be seriously seriously wrong.

We had a story not long ago here where a 3 year old was removed from the care of her mother after being found wandering alone on the street.  Turns out momma was in the habit of leaving her alone to go to the casino!!!  Can you imagine?  She said she thought the little girl was safe because the house was baby proofed and she locked all the door and windows. Neighbors KNEW she was doing this and no one turned her in.  What???  I would call and report that the very first time it happened. Can you imagine if there had been a fire or something? Good Lord, what is wrong with these people!

The father was deployed overseas and had been gone for some time, I think I heard.

Yeah, when I first read this I couldn't believe it. How stupid can a person be? I think a monkey would treat it's young better than this. I hate hearing stuff like this! The poor children. I heard the older boy was taken to foster care and the father was on his way home. That poor baby. I think they said he was around 9 months old, the same age as my little grandson. :( At least he's in the arms of Jesus now. I pray that the other child will not be scarred for life from this.

this is just heartbreaking!! I wonder if the mom was on something?? What kind of person would leave a baby unattended at home let alone in the tube?? This really pisses me off!. CPS can take children away from families that dont deserve it but a woman like this gets to keep hers untill she kills one?? Come on!

I would think there was something seriously wrong there.  No one thinks that leaving your young child in the bathtub to even answer the phone or the door is a good idea, let alone go to the convenience store.  Something had to be wrong with this women.

I wish I knew what the answers to all these problems are.  So many people die so senselessly.  I just have to wonder what is going on in our world today.

Events like this do not happen suddenly and I would think it would make sense to question the children's father as to whether he was aware there were potential signs of that abuse could have been occurring to get a better picture of what was going on. I also support laws that can keep track of this type of abuse both to prevent it and also to monitor the people who caused it. If anyone like this after being imprisoned is released to society they should be under house arrest.
