Yet another reason I don't have a FB account.
I'd rather vent HERE, where it's relatively "untraceable", than have my venting tied to an account that's identifiable as mine (my "real name", not my 'screen-name').
FB is a little too intrusive for my taste, thank you very much.
I, too, often have to find out what's going on with my kids via FB. It's a shame.
Im sorry to say, if I want to know what is going on with one of my kids, I go to facebook and read their pages. Social sights is sure not good for family relations.
My daughter kept updating her status while she was in labor........ her FIL wanted to know if she'd posted when they had the sex that created the baby!!
I have friends that post "oh, just changed X's diaper. It was a bad one". Or "going to the grocery store now." I am just curious who is really interested in reading the minute to minute play by play of someone's mundane life.
I also see on the forums I cl for the things that happen with facebook in terms of fighting with partners or reconnecting with old flames and being tempted, etc. Dangerous stuff.
I'm not a facebook fan.
I have seen people who do nothing all day long that they do not post on facebook. From what organizations their kids are into, where they go to school, when the next practice is, where they are going on the weekend, where they live? All the way down to what they are watching on television to what they are fixing for dinner, problems with their kids, their kids schools, medical issues, you name it.
Pretty dumb is right.
I just saw the article yesterday about the teacher who got fired for posting racy photos on a social media site, and another about a person who didn't get a coveted job because of things posted on social media.... I actually posted a "caution" to all my friends to watch what they post.
Social media can get you fired, can prevent you from getting hired, it can get your house broken into while you're on vacation; it can get your kids kidnapped and otherwise wreak havoc if caution isn't used when posting.
Now we see that it can get you arrested if decide you just have to brag about what you've done. Yeah, talk about stupid.
