Fox guest plugs website suggesting Democratic leaders are Nazis

Fox guest plugs website suggesting Democratic leaders are Nazis

July 01, 2010 11:58 pm ET by Fae Jencks

On tonight's episode of On the Record with Greta Van Susteren, Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce appeared to comment on President Obama's speech today on immigration. At the end of the interview, Van Susteren allowed Pearce to plug his website, with Pearce saying that "if people go to banamnestynow.org, they can help me with stopping this amnesty in America today."

It turns out the website is actually banamnestynow.com, and it's a doozy. The website's banner includes an image of Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi wearing Nazi-style armbands that sport the Obama logo.

Apparently, Fox News will let pretty much anyone promote their websites, not just Republicans running for office.

Sorry, I need to correct my statement.  I meant "to see the US overrun by illegals".  We were talking about illegals coming in from Mexico and I didn't recheck my post before hand.  I mean no disrepect to anyone in that comment.

Sara, I truly truly hope you are right.  I also believe there are more good police officers then bad.  I am not certain the law can be rewritten to guarantee no harrasment, but you are correct in that it will come down to scrutiny by the public.  I hope that all goes well.

Due to all the media scrutiny on this issue, I believe it will be enforced properly.  All law enforcement agencies in Arizona are being trained on how to do this in accordance with all federal and state laws.

I believe we have more good police than bad.  We only hear about the bad ones.  So I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt.  They have so far done nothing to indicate the law enforcement agencies will do anything illegal.

It's the "where reasonable suspicion exists that the person is in the US unlawfully...etc." that bothers me.  There is no way to tell.  Also, I still think this opens the door to harrassment...ie: let's pull over latino's for everything we can think of.

I have a close MedHelp friend in Arizona and my best friend owns a condo there and lives there about 1/2 the year (she is here the rest of the time).  I know the situation is frustrating.  I absolutely do not dispute that it needs to be addressed and changed.  IF this law is enforced properly, there probably won't be any problem.  I sure hope that is the case and you are right.  If you are, I shall eat crow and be happy to do it.  But I know (and have seen firsthand) abuses by the police.  Not all, in fact not even most, but enough that there needs to be more checks and balances. Do I have the answer?  Nope, I don't.  But just as I worry about open season being declared on Muslims because of the acts of some, I worry about open season on Latino's because of the (legitimate) fear around drug cartels and illegals.  Sorry, it's the way my brain is wired.  And I can assure you, I have no desire to see an open border nor do I have any secret desire to see the US overrun by Latino's.  I do however want everyone, everywhere (my country and yours) treated as equals.  I guess in my perfect world, everyone would be colour blind.

I realize Bush is out of office.  But for the very same liberals who demonized a conservative president to scream when the tables are turned is hypocrisy in its basest form.

To read the text of the Arizona law click here: http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/sb1070s.pdf

Before I point out some of the language, I'd like to say this.  As a Texan, I've been stopped by border patrol when I travel within 100 miles of the Mexican border and asked to produce identification.  Now I drive a Volvo that's usually packed with my blond children with a blond mother.  Am I being profiled?  They do this to everybody. Also, anytime you are involved in a traffic violation or accident as a victim or witness, you are asked for license, registration and proof of insurance.  Is that profiling?  They do it to everybody.

Now some key points:
A. NO OFFICIAL OR AGENCY OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR
17 OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS STATE MAY ADOPT A POLICY THAT LIMITS OR
18 RESTRICTS THE ENFORCEMENT OF FEDERAL IMMIGRATION LAWS TO LESS THAN THE FULL
19 EXTENT PERMITTED BY FEDERAL LAW.
20 B. FOR ANY LAWFUL CONTACT MADE BY A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICIAL OR AGENCY
21 OF THIS STATE OR A COUNTY, CITY, TOWN OR OTHER POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OF THIS
22 STATE WHERE REASONABLE SUSPICION EXISTS THAT THE PERSON IS AN ALIEN WHO IS
23 UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES, A REASONABLE ATTEMPT SHALL BE MADE,
24 WHEN PRACTICABLE, TO DETERMINE THE IMMIGRATION STATUS OF THE PERSON. THE
25 PERSON'S IMMIGRATION STATUS SHALL BE VERIFIED WITH THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
26 PURSUANT TO 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1373(c).
27 C. IF AN ALIEN WHO IS UNLAWFULLY PRESENT IN THE UNITED STATES IS
28 CONVICTED OF A VIOLATION OF STATE OR LOCAL LAW, ON DISCHARGE FROM
29 IMPRISONMENT OR ASSESSMENT OF ANY FINE THAT IS IMPOSED, THE ALIEN SHALL BE
30 TRANSFERRED IMMEDIATELY TO THE CUSTODY OF THE UNITED STATES IMMIGRATION AND
31 CUSTOMS ENFORCEMENT OR THE UNITED STATES CUSTOMS AND BORDER PROTECTION.

E. A LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER, WITHOUT A WARRANT, MAY ARREST A PERSON
38 IF THE OFFICER HAS PROBABLE CAUSE TO BELIEVE THAT THE PERSON HAS COMMITTED
39 ANY PUBLIC OFFENSE THAT MAKES THE PERSON REMOVABLE FROM THE UNITED STATES.
Note:  Anyone suspected of any violation of the law must produce ID.  White , Black or Brown  it doesn't matter.  Otherwise you will be charged with failure to identify.

J. THIS SECTION SHALL BE IMPLEMENTED IN A MANNER CONSISTENT WITH
35 FEDERAL LAWS REGULATING IMMIGRATION, PROTECTING THE CIVIL RIGHTS OF ALL
36 PERSONS AND RESPECTING THE PRIVILEGES AND IMMUNITIES OF UNITED STATES
37 CITIZENS.

Sec. 3. Title 13, chapter 15, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by
39 adding section 13-1509, to read:
40 13-1509. Trespassing by illegal aliens; assessment; exception;
41 classification
42 A. IN ADDITION TO ANY VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW, A PERSON IS GUILTY OF
43 TRESPASSING IF THE PERSON IS BOTH:
44 1. PRESENT ON ANY PUBLIC OR PRIVATE LAND IN THIS STATE.
45 2. IN VIOLATION OF 8 UNITED STATES CODE SECTION 1304(e) OR 1306(a).

E. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER LAW, A PEACE OFFICER MAY LAWFULLY STOP
21 ANY PERSON WHO IS OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE IF THE OFFICER HAS REASONABLE
22 SUSPICION TO BELIEVE THE PERSON IS IN VIOLATION OF ANY CIVIL TRAFFIC LAW AND
23 THIS SECTION.

I refuse to go on.  Read the actual legislation for yourself.  NOWHERE does it say, an office of the law may arrest any person who looks Hispanic.  They can't walk through a restaurant and pull you out.  You have to have done something illegal.

I personally believe those who are against this just want an open border with no control.  Some for political reasons.  Other for more nefarious reasons.  But these people aren't living in the day to day hell that Arizona is.  And they don't care about all the drugs, murders, car thefts, kidnappings and all the other crime the Mexican flood has brought upon us.

Yes, I have read it.  Perhaps I misunderstood something.  My understanding was this....if the police have a reasonable reason to suspect someone is an illegal, they can ask for proof.  So my issue was simply that reasonable belief was not necessarily defined.  To me, the only reason the police would have to think someone was possibly an illegal would be that they were latino.  Now, if I misunderstood, and what that means is that they are asked during the course of committing either a crime or even being pulled over for speeding, then I have no issue with it.  I just think that it reasonable belief or suspicion should be defined.  I know everyone pulled over for a traffic violation is asked for ID.  I just cannot help but wonder if you will see an increase in pullovers for latinos.  Sorry, it's just how I see it.  Again, no problem with the law itself, just how it might be used.  It bothers my sense of justice to see any group targeted because of their race.  And I am not talking about targeting illegals, just latino's in general.  I know you disagree, and you know I respect that, but can you sort of see my point?  Even if you disagree that that could happen.

Amanda:  Have you actually read the legislation?  I can assure you that there is nothing in it that is not already in the federal immigration laws.  They must already have been suspected of a crime before the police can do anything.

Can the police walk through a taqueria and ask for ID?  NO NO NO.  Can the police ask for ID from someone arrested for robbery or any other crime?  Yes.

By the way, If I were to be pulled over, I would be asked for my license, registration and proof of insurance.  Am I being profiled?  They ask everyone who is pulled over for a traffic violation.

I personally don't think anything is wrong with Arizona's new law in theory.  It's just in practice it doesn't sit right with me.  I worry about latino's who are perfectly legal being harrassed for no other reason that they are latino.  You would like to think most police officers wouldn't, but I just feel that the way the law is written, it opens that door.  Especially in a part of your country where emotions over illegal immigration, crime and these cartel drug dealers are obviously running high.  Legitimate feelings, but I always worry about anything that potentially paints all members of the same race with the same paintbrush, and I feel this does that in a sense.  So theoretically, I think it's a positive.  In practice, I think it has huge potential negatives.  Just my opinion.

As for the swastikas on the arms...I suspect most reasonable people wouldn't like it or agree.  But the fact that a US senator would even think of doing something like that speaks volumes about his moral code..again, just my opinion.

I do not agree with posting swastikas on their arms.  That being said.

The amnesty deal I'm hearing now, seems to be the same on Reagan signed.  I wasn't happy with that one but hoped it would work.  Wrong.  Illegal immigration only increased.

I suggest we try something new and revolutionary.  Enforcement of the laws already on the books.  Arizona's new law merely mirrors the Federal law.  So if the Federal laws on immigration are fine and Constitutional, what  is wrong with Arizona's laws?

I have already signed the petition.

When I really started to think about it, this is actually sort of funny.  It makes no sense.  The Nazi party are total racists.  They would never ever allow someone like Obama to be a member.  And they sure as heck would not support amnesty for illegal immigrants.  They wouldn't support immigration at all unless it was European White.  So not only is this website offensive as all get out, it shows a complete lack of intelligence.

You can also go to media matters.org and view the clips. This is an example of why I have nothing to do with fox. It is soooo obvious that they are obama haters, and yes, racists on top of it. Media matters monitors the shows o Rush. But they have actual clips so no one can claim bias on their part.

Just went and had a look at the website myself.  No question about the truth behind this thread...the pics are there, and the home page "letter" is signed off by Russell Pearce.  Classy guy isn't he.  I cannot believe a US Senator is endorsing and supporting this type of thing.  Absolutely unbelievable.

Very nice.  I cannot understand why people are allowing this stuff.  I don't care if you love or hate the dems, that sort of thing is beyond ludicrous.  How can anyone take these people seriously when they do things like that.  And how incredibly disrespectful to the Jews, honestly.  Making a mockery out of one of the greatest tragedies (at least in my opinion) that we have seen in modern day history.  And this is coming from a US senator?  I will still never forget the news footage (during the health care debate/bill) of another US Rep. Senator standing on a balcony with a large picture of Pelosi facing a crowd of Tea Party activists.  He was making all sorts of rude gestures and really riling them up.  This sort of thing keeps going and going.....and it's horrible.
