I heard its on the uptick in China bigtime. Cure? Im not thinking anytime soon.
A vaccine is FAR more likely than a cure. For MOST viral infections, there is no cure, and with HIV, a retrovrius, it is unlikely.
We still don't have a cure for the common cold, and influenza. A cure would be wonderful, but just think of all the other diseases out there with no cure, only treatments.
The thing to be thankful for is how far we've come in the treatment for HIV/AIDS. MANY people are living completely normal life spans...it's not the automatic death sentence it was at the beginning.
Also, there have been major advancements in testing. I would honestly rather see money going towards prevention. HIV is 100% preventable.
My daughter-in-law is working on AIDs projects in Africa. The epidemic is much larger there, partially due to poverty and lack of education as well as stubborn refusal by some of using condoms.
Of course, I can't let this subject go by without mentioning the fact that Hep C now kills more people in the US than HIV/AIDs.
Here's an article about the only man cured of aids...There's video of him as well..

This is one big reason why we need more stem cell research....
I read something this morning that there is a group in Canada whose basically cured cancer but big pharma stands in the way of production.... It's be nice to see some of this stuff cured.
