I was just getting ready to post a similar article. So we have bipartisanship on this issue? That in itself is something to celebrate I think. I dont care what they do as long as they all agree and compromise. Sounds hopeful.

There was talk today on a radio show that they feel that there will be a relatively strong sense of bipartisan opposition as well.  The President was mentioned as potentially being in opposition.

Could be a step in the right direction, but John McCain clearly says that he thinks they "can get the latino vote".  (Something similar was done in and around the Reagan era.)  To me it sounds like they are far more concerned in procuring potential voters than doing this for the right reasons.

If you could get rid of the partisanship here, it would look far more keen of an idea without ulterior motives....

Oh and if latinos vote for one party over another because that party is willing to look the other way when it comes to breaking the laws then honestly why do we even vote? If that is the driving issue, to let those who broke our laws be excused...just sickening.

Well I saw on a cnn segment tht interviewed McCain today and he was asked why now? McCain said it has everything to do with elections. I was shocked but hey! Give the man cudos for being brutally honest at least. I cannot help but think how putting off making decisions makes the decisions any easier to make. The longer this goes on, the harder its gonna get. Now we will see what happens.

At least both sides agree on it..The devil is in the details though!...Of course its for votes...Why else would the repubs be looking to pass immigration reform?....Sad part is, the repubs still have a long way to go before the "illegals" will vote for them again!...

I don't see this as a partisan issue.  There may not be too much that we can all agree on, but I believe everyone is fed up with the illegal immigration problem.

This was 4 Republicans and 4 Democrats; might they not all have had the same goal in mind?

Note that it says "BOTH (emphasis mine) Democratic and Republicans were eager to go before Obama to try to wrest control of the process from the White House".

Okay, I sort of really messed up that last post. I was posting from my phone, oops.

What I was trying to say, is that they came out in bipartisan support with a plan, before the white house was supposed to release a plan on Tuesday. But after they came out, the white house said it will not be releasing its plan tomorrow due to request from the latino caucus not to do it, and he complied with their request. Per cnn.
