I have always had 30-31 day cycles
Lmp Sept 25

Guy A Sept 15 took plan b Sept 16- period came on 9 days later on Sept 25, which was a couple days early
Until my period started I took pregnancy test all were negative.. I know 9 days past ovulation is early to test but in the past I've gotten a positive test 8 dpo..
Guy B October 9-13
Positive test October 31 -2-3 weeks with fancy test
Nov 17th vaginal ultrasound dating 7 wks 4 days (lmp) and actual measurements 7 weeks, heartbeat visible... Doctor decided to go with 7 weeks 4 days giving due date July 2nd...
I've read a lot of posts and I know it all points to guy B... For the most part I've been happy and stress free... The 4 d ultrasound even resembles guy B.. but as my due date approaches I'm starting to worry... Everyone is always so helpful here even though I'm embarrassed and ashamed I had to ask

Guy A is almost a month too early to have produced the pregnancy and also you had a period after him.

thanks so much for your reply... By that lifespan of sperm comment I meant that I thought if a woman happened to ovulate late in her cycle,like days before a period is due, that she might still get that period(no real research on that obviously just something I read years ago).. but guy B and I used pull out method for years, albeit I always thought he was REALLY good at the pull out method meaning there were usually no late withdrawals and it's possible it just happened to not be my fertile period... I just thought I screwed up big time with guy A bc it seemed to good to be true that guy B and I got pregnant less than 2 months after not withdrawing... Although I loved both guys dearly, I was relieved to have contracted anything with such reckless behavior... I trust them but even my actions were risky so I just couldn't believe I got so.lucky... I'm glad the baby and I have been healthy and I haven't worried much... The guys just look extremely different(race)... So I guess I just freaked so close to delivery... Thanks again... I really appreciate you volunteering your time... Your answers are very helpful and kind.

A woman's cycle begins with ovulation.  It doesn't begin with her last period.  About two weeks after ovulation, if the woman has not gotten pregnant, her uterine lining (that has built up in case she were to get pregnant) will shed off.  That two weeks is a pretty reliable number, doctors say 14-15 days.  Then, her body thinks it over and ovulates again when it feels like it.  The lead event is ovulation, the follow-up event is the period, and then the next ovulation could be any-the-hell when.  (A woman with random, irregular or long cycles, will be random between the last period and the next ovulation, not between ovulation and the next period.  A woman could go 6 months between periods, but when she has a period she can be sure she ovulated two weeks ago even if it was 5 1/2 weeks of nothing before that.)

The average woman has a 28-day cycle.  If someone is regular every 28 days, she will ovulate two weeks before her next period, or at day 14.  The doc could say she also ovulates 14 days after her last period.  But that last period did not cause her next ovulation, her ovulation causes her *next* period.

So, if you think about your theory that someone can ovulate late and then have a period in a few days, well, nope.  If someone ovulates late, she will have her period two weeks later.  Ovulation is what turns on the mechanism, the period is simply the end result, always 2 weeks later.

Very interesting, I'm following you now... However, it makes me wonder why some women swear they got a period but conceived days before... Maybe they were wrong about their dates or it was implantation bleeding but I work in the healthcare field and one thing I've noticed is that the body does weird things sometimes... I feel a lot better though about everything... I don't disagree with any points you've made...  I did feel a little stupid when you said I needed basic health Ed though! But that's my sensitive nature that I have to contend with.. your point reminded me of the old " what came first, the chicken or the egg"! But I get it, your saying when I got my first period ever, it was bc I ovulated first 2 weeks before that right? So I guess you're right, I did need that basic knowledge!

So if I'm following you, in your opinion the uterine lining cannot already be "set" to shed so to speak? For example, say I ovulated Sept 14 and did not conceive, then on sept 26 I had sex, considering your point that "next ovulation could be any the hell when" is it possible that I still get a period on Sept28th?, And if something altered the ovulation pattern whether it's random or possibly plan b and I ovulated again on sept 30 and still become pregnant from the sex on Sept 26th...? I know you have to help people so I won't keep throwing out conspiracy theories lol... But it's interesting to shed some light on these rare occurrences that scare the crap out of worry warts like me! Bc from what u explained I don't think it's possible to truly get a real period and still be pregnant...

Yes, when you got your first period ever, it was because two weeks prior to that, your body ovulated.  And when you get your last period ever, it will be because it's doing clean-up from your last ovulation.

Women can think they had a period when pregnant for various reasons.  The most common is that they had some other kind of bleeding or spotting and thought it was a period when it was not. Bleeding in early pregnancy can happen, often from a broken blood vessel in the uterus. Another is that they might have had a really early miscarriage followed by getting pregnant immediately the next month, and just didn't know.  Another is that they didn't understand that when their doctor said they were 6 weeks "along" or 6 weeks "pregnant," the doc was saying 4 weeks since conception.

But the thing is, you had an ultrasound.  If you had gotten pregnant by Guy A on Sept 15, the doctor would have told you from your ultrasound that you were in your eleventh week, not your seventh week. Embryos look very different at week 11 compared to week 7.  This would be nothing an ultrasound tech and a doctor would mistake.

Thanks so much Annie, that makes a lot of sense... You're right, I was amazed at how a tiny unrecognizable dot at 7 weeks, transformed into the obvious shape of a baby at the 10 weeks 4 days ultrasound... I'm still pro choice, but seeing that baby at ten weeks look so alive and human will always make me try to convince anyone who ever asks to consider other options before terminating a pregnancy... I'm going to try to sleep but for anyone who thinks it's guy B here's a few ridiculous worries I have... Or are they ridiculous after all?

First plan b in my opinion is always a gamble
I remember cramping badly one day and heavy flow but the other two days were normal... So was it a legit period or plan b just wreaking havoc on my cycle?

Considering the lifespan of sperm, if guy A's hung around until the 22nd of September, would that Sept 25 period hold any weight?

Could a vaginal ultrasound be off by weeks at 7 weeks? I knew to go early but after reading on this site I wish I wouldn't have given a lmp date, feels biased now

And lastly, the reason I'm here, am I so desperate for it to be Guy B's that i can't see the small possibility of guy A?
One of my biggest regrets is not testing again after I got that period on Sept 25, had I tested a week later I would know if I was already preg!

What does "Considering the lifespan of sperm, if guy A's hung around until the 22nd of September, would that Sept 25 period hold any weight?" mean?  Even if the sperm hung on a while, they would not be viable after 9 days, and even if they were (let's say you had a period 4 days later) you still had a period.  A period is an indicator that you were not pregnant.  Besides, you didn't get pregnant until around October 8 or 9 according to all the information you have given.

Vaginal ultrasounds at 7 weeks are not off by several weeks.  They are not even off by several days.  Maybe 1-2 days at most.
