Need help understanding blood work from dvts?

My husband just got out of hospital.  They found more than 8 veins containing multiple blood clots. Pe's as well. One on one side and multiple on the right side. Ran a lot of tests. Igm was .10 Igg was. 10 too. I know red blood cells count was a little high. Is there something I should look at in blood tests to know what's going on.  Younger brother, father, and an uncle all had blood clots that caused amputation of legs. My husband is 38, and this was his first issue with them. Why was his blood clots so extreme?
