DVT stands for deep venous thrombosis, which is a blood clot in one or more of the deep veins in your body, usually in your legs, presenting with pain and/or swelling. This clot can migrate to other parts of your body, such as your pulmonary arteries (pulmonary embolism), a potentially life-threatening condition.
