What did your DVT feel like?

Hello,
For the past 1 1/2 months my leg has felt sore. It doesn't interrupt my day to day activities but its noticeable. There is no swelling, redness, or warmth. It seems to occur along my whole leg and is not constant or consistent. I am wondering what DVTs felt like for anyone who might have had them? How long can a DVT be there without being noticed?

A bit of background on me. I am a 23 year old female, on birth-control, and a nonsmoker. Recently my grandpa was diagnosed with a DVT and pulmonary embolisms, so I have become very aware of this issue. This could be my problem! Either I may be focusing on it and creating pain when its not there or since I make a conscious effort to stretch my legs a lot more it could really be sore from  that!

Anyways, I was just curious about anyone's DVT story that they may be willing to share? Has anyone else known someone with a DVT and became overly aware of the issue?

I had my dvt while in the icu. I was in dka which cause it. when this happened I had a bowel blockage which I think caused the dvt. I was having some pain using the walker to go to bathroom,  I also had some pain in my feet. Then when I was released I had pain and couldn't put pressure on my leg. The nurse said it was due to low potassium and gave me more pills to take( I had had very low potassium in dka and it was still low. (NO!!!) What an idiot!!! )

By the time I got home I had severe pain which got worse and worse and some swelling. I could barely walk up and down stairs. The next day I went to an ortho doc at that hospital. I called my endo but he said it had nothing to do with the dka etc. !!!! NO, WRONG…

The orho said, with a look of disgust at the fact that I was released from the icu with a dvt,  you have a clot go back to the er, which I did. They put me in a wheel chair and said not to move around etc. US confirmed this was a dvt. When they put the US device near the clot the pain was so bad I screamed. I was readmitted and there for 5 more days. Mine was in the popliteal vein. I have permanent damage in that vein and artery and in my other leg which had an unconfirmed clot.

I still get symptoms in my legs when my bg goes up and down. Each time I'm worried it could be another clot. I had no clotting factors show up in testing.

I would definitely get this checked out and go off bcp. This can cause clots and it causes a lot of other problems.

Mine started with a heavy feeling behind the knee.  Then the leg became discolored, warm, felt very hard.  It was misdiagnosed as bursitis twice and by the time it was correctly disgnosed it was so painful I couldn't stand up straight.   I have heard that the majority of DVT's produce no symptoms.  Yours doesn't sound like mine but go to a doctor and set your mind at ease.  Good luck.

I had DVT in my left leg above the calf . First day just sore , second day worse. Third day I could hardly walk ... It felt like someone hit me with a baseball bat in the area effected . First ultrasound they missed it . Then I took the thing they used and placed it over the spot it hurt . They found it . I would not be concerned about your grand father . The Factor 5 is usually passed mother to son . But is an easy blood test to see if you have that gene ....
