Bone graft

How do I know if I really need a bone graft.
I always had gum disease since my teenage years
only the last 5 years I had very little problems with my gums
although, my teeth are getting longer as my gum receeds more & more

last year a dentist in Mexico told me I urgently need bone graft if I don't want ot loose my teeth
a few months ago in Ireland my dentist told I do not neet bone graft

Question: How do I know when / if I need and benefit from bone graft?
the dentist in Ireland mentioned there is a new material (syntetic)? on the market which is very good

thanks for advise

Dear Arti,

Many thanks for your sound advice, that makes perfect sense to me now,
and I am glad that you outlined that the own/ natural bone is the best material
to 'fill' in the space by bone loss. As dental surgery is extremely expensive in Ireland, as well as in my own country (Austria), I might consider to research a reliable dental clinic in Hungary, I was there 20 yrs. ago to have my bridge made to great satisfaction, (still firm in place even with continuous gum recede).

Best Regards

Veronika

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello there,
A complete clinical examination is very important for determining the correct cause and treatment of your condition. Bone grafting is usually indicated to replace or augment bone in areas of tooth loss which may occur due to trauma, severe caries, or periodontal disease. The most effective graft material is your own natural bone followed by freeze dried human bone and then processed animal bone, and lastly, mineral bone substitute .It is important to discuss the details of this procedure with your dentist and get a firm understanding before the surgical procedure starts. I sincerely hope it helps.
Best luck and kind regards!
